Khopoli is a small city in Raigad quarter of Maharashtra. It’s located at the foothills of the Sahyadri mountain range, about 80 km down from Mumbai. A major artificial mecca, it’s girdled by lush green hills and graphic decor. It’s also home to some of the finest educational institutions in the state

 

Khopoli is also known for its major tabernacles. The Mahalaxmi Temple is the most notorious tabernacle in this region; it’s devoted to the goddess Mahalaxmi and dates back to the 11th century. It’s believed to be the first tabernacle of its kind in Maharashtra. Other popular sanctuaries include the Shri Ashtavinayak Temple, Kondeshwar Temple, and Muktidham Temple. 

 

 Khopoli is also known for its rich artistic heritage. There are several folk balls like Lavani, Bhangra and Kolhati which are performed on special occasions. The traditional art forms of Warli and Madhubani are also popular then. Khopoli is a great place for adventure sports. There are colorful conditioning like swash rafting, rappelling, gemstone climbing, and mountain biking which one can enjoy. It’s also home to the Adlabs Imagica theme demesne, one of the largest in the country. 

 

 Tourism is a major contributor to the frugality of the region. The near hill station of Matheran is a popular destination for excursionists. It’s also known for its thick timber cover and stirring views of the girding dene. The Koyana Wildlife Sanctuary is home to numerous rare species of creatures and catcalls. Khopoli is well connected to the rest of Maharashtra by road and rail. The nearest road station is Karjat, which is about 18 km from Khopoli. There are regular motorcars to and from Mumbai and Pune, while the nearest field is the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai.
