Napne Waterfall located in Sindhudurg district. It is situated at a distance of 317 km from Pune. Seasonal monsoon waterfalls are famous in Konkan. During the monsoon, one can see a number of waterfalls cascading down along the mountain range. After rainy season overall waterfalls vanish. Napane waterfall is an exception. The only perennial waterfall in the district. Napne Waterfall has its origin at Nadhavde located 5 km upstream. After a journey of some 4-5 km, the river comes cascading down resulting in a splendid waterfall. It has a lush green forest with scenic beauty. Nature lovers can have a chance to study a variety of flora and fauna here. Many species of birds can also be seen and heard here. At Navadhe village, a water spring has sprouted suddenly at one place. Locals call it ‘umala’. There are many other small falls, which according to medicinal experts is believed to be a sort of medical remedy for skin diseases. This fall is believed to be a holy spiritual sight, as the famous Saint Gagangiri Maharaj had formerly observed penance at the foot of the fall. This fall also offers an opportunity for studious observers. Many schools and college students on excursions visit this fall. It gives a thrilling experience for the swimmers. The State Govt. has proposed here Boating-project, a hanging bridge and Children’s Park etc. At present snacks, dinner and lodging facility is available. Napane has very few residential facilities offering only basic facilities. A one-day excursion is more advisable. Kankavli (40kms) or Talere offer good quality comfortable accommodation is available. The best time to visit is in the months of September to early February. Napane is a suitable destination for a summer holiday.
